Yuna Thief Blades

One of the more complex prop projects I've worked on (although not nearly as headache-inducing as the Nirvana staff). These blades were made of two sections: the long curved section, and the circular section. The long curved section was easy enough to make; I just cut a pair of blade-shaped pieces out of plastic sheeting, bent them lengthwise, glued foam to the inside of the blade halves to give them structure and support, and then glued both halves of the blade together. The circular piece was a little tougher. I had to make it by cutting two identical notched circles out of plastic, gluing them together at the outer edges, gluing a wooden dowel in between them to act as a handle for the prop, and then stuffing the space between the two plastic circles with craft foam. I then glued plastic sheeting over all of the surfaces of the circular piece to make it look like a seamless 3-dimensional prop. Lastly, I attached the long blade section of the prop to the circular section and painted it all over with testor's enamel paint. Oh, and at some point during the process I glued the decoration and the studs on. Whew. Anyway, it came out looking really stylish and deadly, for which I am thankful.
