Ruri Hoshino
First Worn: Halloween 2001
   
Ruri: The blunt, blue-haired, straight-talking wunderkind from Nadesico. Long a favorite character of mine. I made this outfit to wear during our local Otaku Club's annual Halloween party. Most of it was easy to put together; the shirt and skirt I found at a thrift store. The vest was wholly original however, as were the Nergal and Nadesico patches which I painted myself. The most difficult part of the outfit proved to be the wig, which I made by sewing the hair from three separate cheapie costume wigs together.

Someone wanted me to make just the vest for this outfit. A simple enough assignment. (No project is too small for yours truly!) I created it using my Patternmaster software and for the patch, I wised up and ironed it onto the fabric using transfer paper instead of trying to paint it on myself. Looked much better.
