This was a very challenging costume as it was detail heavy, and involved a lot of armor and gems. I made the dress with a gored skirt which was supported by a crinoline. (The skirt would, of course, flare out more when being worn.) The hem of the skirt, and most of the "embroidery" on the dress and gloves was made using fabric paint. The design on the front apron was half paint/half appliqued fabric. The armor was made using craft foam covered with styrene and decorated with hotglue. Most of the gemstones were made from sculpey painted with metallic acrylic. The crown was probably the hardest thing to make, since it had a weird shape. I wound up having to build it over a framework and attach combs to it at both ends so it would stay on the wearer's head. The tiny dangly hair ornaments in front were made using wooden shapes I bought at a craft store and ribbons.
