About the Author

Teresa Dietzinger (online name, Amethyst Angel-a name the author now regrets picking since she thinks it sounds too much like the handle a My Little Pony-loving 3rd grade girl might have chosen), picked up many of her creative sewing skills through her years of practice on personal projects and through her stint as a student worker in the St. Cloud State University Theatre Costume Shop. The costume shop, in particular, is where she learned about fitting and drafting patterns, garment finishing, and the making and painting of costume armor, --however, her REAL career as an armorer and propmaker started the day she discovered the magic of craft foam and thin styrene sheeting. (It was soon after the day she discovered how badly fiberglass and bondo -which she had been previously trying to make armor with--can damage one's lungs, sanity, and apartment floor.) She has since moved on to experiment in various types of creative costume media and to compete in (and judge) cosplay masquerade contests. Not long ago, she went on to open a business making custom-sized cosplay props and armor for online customers.

She has a weblog (see link below) where she posts personal news and picture tutorials of many of her current projects. She also has a commercial website with an online gallery of her various costume and armor projects at: http://amethyst-angel.com/cosplay.html
